How To Change or Switch E, G Status Icon to 3G / H / H+ / 4G / LTE on Your Phone

To those who are experiencing slow internet speed while browsing their mobile phones, we will provide you a quick tip that may help you get and connect to faster wireless cellular internet. This may help to those who are seeing 'G' or 'E' status icon on beside your phone's signal bar while network data is turned on. The icon G stands for GPRS/2G signal you are getting while browsing on you phone and E also means EDGE which is a slight  enhanced in terms of speed. Both network type can only handles limited speed which only gives you kbps unlike 3G / H / H+ /HSDPA / HSPA and LTE networks you ca speed up to faster and higher Mbps. 
Switch 2G/EDGE network to 3G , HSDPA, 4G LTE
Available 4G, 3G and 2G mobile network

If you're seeing G and E icon on your smartphone that means your connected to slower network, your area has only 2G network or your phone settings is set to connect only 2G cellular network.

How to Speed Up your mobile by Connecting to Faster 3G / 4G / LTE network


For Android phones:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to More / More Settings / Tethering and networks (this depends on phone model and OS version).
  3. Go to Mobile networks then select Network Mode.
  4. On Preferred network / Network Mode you are given an option to select WCDMA / 3G only, LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto, 2G only, LTE preferred.
  5. Select your preferred type of network to connect.

WCDMA/3G only - if you want to lock or force your mobile connectivity to this network only. Other network type will be ignored and if your area has weak to no 3G network you will experience unstable to no internet connectivity.

LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto - if you want to connect to most stable wireless network location on your area. This can be LTE, 3G or 2G and may normally auto switches to other type if current network is unstable.

2G only - if you want to connect on 2G/EDGE network only.

LTE preferred or 4G/LTE - if you want to connect LTE network on your location. Be sure to know the LTE coverage of your network provided before selecting this option. Some telcos and countries does not have nationwide or metro-wide 4G/LTE coverage.

For iPhone or iOS:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on Cellular/Mobile
  3. Go to Voice and Data
  4. On mobile data select or Enable LTE,3G and 2G.
Once you select one of the above options, it will temporarily disconnect your data connection in case your using it while changing the network type. You will notice change on your current network type at the top of your mobile phone screen. If your connected from 2G/Edge "E" and selected network mode to 3G/4G it will display icons like 3G, H, HSDPA, H+, 4G and LTE whichever is best available network type on your area.
